Can LLMs Reason About Trust?: A Pilot Study
Debnath, Anushka, Cranefield, Stephen, Lorini, Emiliano, Savarimuthu, Bastin Tony Roy
In human society, trust is an essential component of social attitude that helps build and maintain long-term, healthy relationships which creates a strong foundation for cooperation, enabling individuals to work together effectively and achieve shared goals. As many human interactions occur through electronic means such as using mobile apps, the potential arises for AI systems to assist users in understanding the social state of their relationships. In this paper we investigate the ability of Large Language Models (LLMs) to reason about trust between two individuals in an environment which requires fostering trust relationships. We also assess whether LLMs are capable of inducing trust by role-playing one party in a trust based interaction and planning actions which can instil trust.

How to build trust in answers given by Generative AI for specific, and vague, financial questions
Purpose: Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has progressed in its ability and has seen explosive growth in adoption. However, the consumer's perspective on its use, particularly in specific scenarios such as financial advice, is unclear. This research develops a model of how to build trust in the advice given by GenAI when answering financial questions. Design/methodology/approach: The model is tested with survey data using structural equation modelling (SEM) and multi-group analysis (MGA). The MGA compares two scenarios, one where the consumer makes a specific question and one where a vague question is made. Findings: This research identifies that building trust for consumers is different when they ask a specific financial question in comparison to a vague one. Humanness has a different effect in the two scenarios. When a financial question is specific, human-like interaction does not strengthen trust, while (1) when a question is vague, humanness builds trust. The four ways to build trust in both scenarios are (2) human oversight and being in the loop, (3) transparency and control, (4) accuracy and usefulness and finally (5) ease of use and support. Originality/value: This research contributes to a better understanding of the consumer's perspective when using GenAI for financial questions and highlights the importance of understanding GenAI in specific contexts from specific stakeholders.

Solve Problems That Matter: We serve some of the most important moments in people's lives. It's a responsibility we embrace by focusing obsessively on the issues that will have a quantifiable impact on our customers and our company growth. Yes Before No: We are optimistic about our ability to change lives by transforming outmoded processes. We believe our efforts can create a better future, and it is our attitude that will allow us to pull that future closer. Start With Why: We don't presume to understand the intentions of the people around us, whether coworkers or customers.
Artificial intelligence needs regulations that builds public trust in it
To build trust and confidence in the technology, laws should require organisations and governments to use AI in an ethical, safe and responsible manner that protects peoples' privacy. This means companies and the government must be accountable for the decisions their AI systems make. It means AI systems must be transparent and that an organisation can explain how a person's data is being used by the AI system. It means protections must be put in place to help reduce the risk that AI outputs are not biased or discriminatory. It means individuals are notified when AI is used to make a decision that affects their rights. It means there are boundaries on how high-risk AI systems can be used, and it means individuals have an appropriate legal recourse when those boundaries are broken.

Exploring the Possibilities of AI in 2023 - The Tiche
There are two distinct types of AI. One is reactive machines, which have no memory and cannot use past experiences to inform future decisions. The other is a self-aware AI, which can understand its current state and make inferences about its environment. When choosing an AI system, organizations should consider factors such as its robustness, the likelihood of its errors, and the consequences of its consequences. These factors can help minimize the negative impacts of AI. But it is also important to recognize that the positive consequences of an AI system are possible.
AI Ethics: What Is It and How to Embed Trust in AI? - Datafloq
The next step of artificial intelligence (AI) development is machine and human interaction. The recent launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT, a large language model capable of dialogue of unprecedented accuracy, shows how fast AI is moving forward. The ability to take human input and permissions and adjust its actions based on them is becoming an integral part of AI technology. This is where the concept of ethics in artificial intelligence research begins, and this is the area I am focusing on for the rest of this article. Previously, humans were solely responsible for educating computer algorithms. Instead of this process, we may soon see AI systems making these judgments instead of human beings. In the future, machines might be fully equipped with their own judgement system. At this point, things could turn for the worse if the system miscalculates or is flawed with any bias. The world is currently experiencing a revolution in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). In fact, all Big Tech companies are working hard on launching the next step in AI. Companies such as Google, Open AI (Microsoft), Meta and Amazon have already started using AI for their own products. Quite often, these tools cause problems, damaging company reputations or worse.
